This week we learned techniques for painting/drawing plum blossoms. I also asked my teacher about water/fuzz techniques for doing animals. I also tried it out on a few pieces of pre-matted sumi pages as well as the plain paper we use in class. The pre-matted sumi pages were a little different, so I tried other techniques, also.

Got some more brush pens. They're a blast. I love how this brand has a real brush tip because that way the very tip is always thin and never frays. Although, the water based ink can run out quickly.

First test of the colors!

This one was done last week, actually.

Reference used. had in mind the idea that in true human
perfection, there is always a little imperfection.

Sumi-e practice and doodles

Below is a sampling of my experimentation with some real nice brush pens I found here in Japan. The first black one ran out a couple weeks ago, and I recently got a new navy blue one. The brand is Zig Clean Color, and has a 'real brush' tip. They are very fun to work with. Some of the drawings were done with reference, some were done without, and some were just doodles or Sumi-e practice.
